Why skipping pet registration is a risk you shouldn't take

In Italy, registering your dog’s microchip with the regional “Anagrafe Canina” is a legal obligation.

If your pet gets lost or requires emergency care and isn’t found in the local database, you could face heavy municipal fines and significant delays in treatment.

Navigating these regional health portals and veterinary offices alone is a stressful burden during an already busy move.

The struggle of finding trusted pet care in a foreign language

Finding a vet who understands your concerns and speaks your language is difficult in rural or smaller Abruzzese towns.

From explaining medical history to understanding local vaccination requirements or pet passport rules, miscommunication can lead to incorrect care.

Trying to manage your pet’s health while struggling to translate technical medical terms adds a layer of anxiety no pet owner wants.

Your Questions, Answered

Moving abroad comes with a lot of uncertainty, and we are here to make things clearer. Here are some of the most common questions about how and where we can support you.

Yes. Every dog must be registered with the regional “Anagrafe Canina” (ASL) within a specific timeframe of your arrival. We help you fulfill this duty to avoid fines.

Absolutely. While dog registration is the most common requirement, we also support the administration and vet-finding process for cats and even horses.

Generally, no. If your pet has an ISO-compliant microchip, we simply help you register that existing number into the Italian regional system.

We perform the research for you, contacting local clinics in your part of Abruzzo to find professionals who may communicate effectively with you. That said, it is not guaranteed that we will find someone. In that case, we are happy to accompany you during the corresponding visits.

We provide the bilingual support to handle the application at the ASL office, which is the only place authorized to issue the official EU pet passport after your arrival.

While we don’t provide specialized pet shipping, we can assist with local transfers to the vet as part of our bilingual accompaniment services.
